Advanced Packaging Engineer

As an Advanced Package Engineer at 3M, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with innovative 3Mers around the world and make an impact by providing direct and/or indirect package engineering services to assigned operating units.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing package design, development, and scale-up based on customer requirements and expectations.
• Organizing the implementation of existing and new package designs, including testing, evaluation, presentation, and recommendation of results.
• Investigating opportunities to decrease packaging material cost and increase process efficiencies.
• Evaluating various packaging options to improve sustainability and circularity of packaging components.
• Contributing to the growth and continued success of multiple different product lines and business groups within 3M.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering.
• Two years of package engineering/design experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.

Preferred qualifications:

• Three years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Proven experience in packaging design and development, preferably in a manufacturing or consumer goods industry.
• Strong knowledge of packaging materials, technologies, and industry standards.
• Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and effectively communicate ideas and recommendations.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and certifications related to packaging (e.g., FDA, ISO, ISTA) is a plus.
• Familiarity with sustainability practices and considerations in packaging design is desirable.
• Strong project management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Continuous learning mindset to stay updated on industry advancements and best practices.

This position is onsite at least 4 days a week in Maplewood, MN at the 3M Center. Travel may include up to 20% domestic/international travel. Relocation assistance may be authorized.

The expected compensation range for this position is $95,591 - $116,834.
