Description
We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to oversee the mechanical design of resilient, scalable, mission-critical facilities that enable cloud, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing across Canada.
As a technical leader and Engineer of Record, you will guide multidisciplinary teams and clients through complex data center projects, advancing cooling performance, operational continuity, energy efficiency, and long-term value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical design, technical delivery, and quality oversight for enterprise, colocation, and hyperscale data center projects.
- Serve as Engineer of Record for assigned projects, reviewing and approving engineering deliverables for technical excellence, compliance, quality, and constructability.
- Shape resilient cooling strategies using chilled water plants, heat rejection systems, pumping systems, air-cooled solutions, and liquid-cooled architectures.
- Advance AI- and HPC-ready infrastructure through direct-to-chip liquid cooling, immersion cooling, rear-door heat exchangers, and Cooling Distribution Units.
- Direct Computational Fluid Dynamics analyses to improve airflow management, thermal performance, cooling capacity, and facility efficiency.
- Integrate mechanical systems with electrical, structural, civil, controls, commissioning, and operational requirements to deliver coordinated solutions.
- Champion BIM and digital engineering practices that strengthen coordination, constructability, project execution, and lifecycle performance.
- Grow client trust and team capability through technical advice, mentoring, proposals, presentations, strategic pursuits, and continuous improvement of engineering standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
- Professional licensure in Ontario, Alberta, and/or British Columbia, with the ability to fulfill Engineer of Record responsibilities.
- 10+ years of progressive mechanical engineering experience, including significant work in mission-critical and data center environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in chilled water systems, cooling plants, pumping systems, heat rejection equipment, and air- and liquid-cooled data center architectures.
- Experience integrating Cooling Distribution Units and rack-level liquid cooling for high-density AI and HPC computing environments.
- Practical experience applying CFD analysis and BIM-based delivery within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Working knowledge of critical electrical infrastructure, including utility services, standby generation, UPS systems, power distribution, and redundancy concepts.
- Ability and willingness to travel periodically within Canada for client meetings, site visits, commissioning, project start-up, and business development.
