Description
WSP is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector based in Glastonbury, Connecticut, to oversee highway, bridge, and rail construction projects.
The Senior Inspector will perform inspections of various construction operations, including roadway paving, excavation, backfill, drainage, traffic control, bridge structural steel and rebar placement, concrete pours, pile driving, and utility installation.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform inspections of highway and bridge construction operations
- Interface with contractors' supervisors to determine and monitor daily work
- Take field measurements and calculations for unit price item quantities
- Complete daily work reports
- Coordinate independent material sampling and testing
- Monitor maintenance of traffic
- Compile photographs of work activities
- Keep the Chief Inspector and/or Resident Engineer informed on construction activities
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or related field, or NICET 3, or CMIT Level 4
- Minimum 4 years of construction inspection experience
- Strong oral and written technical communication skills
- Ability to learn how to read plans and specifications
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid Driver's License and reliable personal transportation
Preferred qualifications include:
- Engineer-In-Training certification or Professional Engineers license
- ACI and NETTCP certifications
- Experience with construction management software such as AASHTOWare Project, Headlight, Procore
- Knowledge of Bluebeam
