We currently have a vacancy for Band 2 Endoscopy Decontamination Technician position at St Albans City Hospital.
The Endoscopy unit carries out a range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using a wide variety of flexible Endoscopes. The Decontamination units are JAG accredited utilising a pass-through system.
The successful candidate will be responsible for decontaminating endoscopes, working to departmental systems, policies, procedures, and guidelines. They will also assist with the running of the Endoscopy Decontamination Services, liaise with outside departments, and be proactive in problem-solving when equipment fails.
Key responsibilities include:
- Decontaminating endoscopes
- Manual cleaning of all endoscopes
- Disinfecting endoscopes using auto-disinfectors
- Documenting daily maintenance of machines and equipment
- Carrying out endoscope and equipment tracking
- Complying with daily documentation of the decontamination of all equipment
- Maintaining and upkeeping all endoscopes and equipment in the unit
The post holder will work as an integral part of the Endoscopy Decontamination Team and part of the wider Integrated Decontamination Team. They will be required to carry out daily equipment checks, ensure compliance with correct protocols, and undergo training as required.
The salary for this position is £26,618 per year.
