The Developer Platforms team at Cisco builds internal tools, frameworks, and platforms for over 3,000 Splunk engineers to develop, test, and release products at scale.
We are seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join the AI Platform team within Developer Platforms, focusing on building an internal platform for Splunk engineers to create, deploy, and operate AI agents safely and effectively.
Your Impact
- Design, build, and operate internal platform capabilities for AI agent creation and management at scale.
- Develop services, frameworks, and tooling for reliable, secure, and maintainable AI-powered workflows.
- Build high-impact AI agents and automation systems to reduce engineering toil and improve developer productivity.
- Collaborate with engineers to understand use cases, gather feedback, and deliver platform capabilities solving real developer problems.
- Contribute to AI platform service architecture and implementation, including integrations with internal systems.
- Establish patterns and best practices for building, testing, deploying, and operating AI agents within Splunk.
- Improve platform reliability, observability, security, and usability through design and operational ownership.
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with production-grade systems.
- 7+ years of experience with backend services, distributed systems, APIs, infrastructure platforms, or developer tooling.
- 3+ years of experience in AI-enabled systems, AI agents, or machine-learning platform concepts.
- 5+ years of experience with modern software development practices, including testing, CI/CD, observability, and secure engineering.

- Ability to work across teams and understand developer needs.
- Experience building platforms or tools used by other engineers.
- Passion for improving developer experience, engineering productivity, and responsible AI use.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with engineers and stakeholders.
The starting salary range for this position in the U.S. and/or Canada is $177,600.00 to $257,400.00, not including incentive compensation, equity, or benefits.
