We are seeking an experienced Specialist Cytoscreener to support the provision of a comprehensive Cytopathology service.
The successful candidate will perform the preparation, screening, and reporting of cervical cytology in accordance with NHSCSP guidelines.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the provision of Gynaecologic diagnostic cytopathology service by screening and performing rapid review or cervical cytology cases.
- Maintaining professional competency in cervical cytology by complying with the requirements of the NHSCSP, including EQA participation and attending 3 yearly update courses.
- Undertaking training in and performing semen analysis for fertility and post vasectomy analysis.
The post requires specialist knowledge, complex equipment, and IT skills to deliver a safe and effective Cytology service to users.
As a Specialist Cytoscreener, you will be responsible for:
- Assessing and reporting negative and technically unsuitable cervical cytology specimens.
- Recording your own work and that of colleagues as appropriate.
- Performing rapid review of primary screened negative and inadequate cervical cytology.
- Identifying potential abnormalities within cervical cytology specimens for subsequent interpretation by a designated checker.
- Participating in departmental IQA and EQA schemes.
The salary for this post is £33,677 to £40,996 per annum.
