Description
We build the embodied intelligence that moves real vehicles safely, and the ecosystem a billion machines will run on in the future.
As a Senior Software Engineer, Data, you'll join a small, high-autonomy team building Wayve's Data Transfer Hub,mission-critical infrastructure designed to transfer petabytes of sensor data per day from global partners.
Responsibilities
- Build and operate large-scale pipelines that transfer video, LiDAR and other sensor data from global partners.
- Shape the technical design of the Data Transfer Hub, making pragmatic trade-offs across user experience, reliability, throughput, cost, partner constraints, observability and operational support.
- Write pipeline logic primarily in Python and manage infrastructure as code with Terraform.
- Work closely with product, commercial and partner-facing teams to understand constraints and solve real customer and partner problems.
- Take ownership of production systems, maintaining high engineering standards as requirements and partner delivery timelines evolve.
- Once the service is established, participate in an out-of-hours on-call and support rotation.
Requirements
- You've built and operated large-scale data transfer, ingestion or processing pipelines, ideally at multi-terabyte or petabyte scale.
- You have strong software engineering skills and experience delivering and maintaining production systems.
- You're proficient in Python and Terraform.
- You've used workflow orchestration to run parallelised jobs. Flyte is preferred, but experience with Airflow, Prefect or similar tools is also relevant.
- You know how to build reliable, observable data systems, including retries, backfills, integrity checks, lifecycle and state tracking, and operational alerting.
- You have strong cloud platform skills, ideally with Azure, and experience with object or blob storage, large-scale file movement, networking or cloud-to-cloud transfers.
- You bring a product mindset: you focus on customer needs and build solutions that address real problems, rather than simply implementing requirements.
- You're comfortable with evolving requirements and take ownership of outcomes, communicate clearly and help your team move quickly.
Benefits
- Salaries benchmarked against the market annually.
- Meaningful equity, sharing in the ownership and long-term success of Wayve.
- Relocation support and visa sponsorship where applicable.
- Hybrid working, core hours and the chance to work hands-on in vehicle workshops and labs.
- Learning and development budgets, with support for training, conferences and growth.
- Comprehensive benefits including health insurance, dental, enhanced maternity and paternity leave, retirement or pension where applicable, access to therapists, wellbeing partnerships, team socials and more.
