Description
Samsara is looking for a Staff or Senior Firmware Engineer to develop software that runs on millions of devices, deployed by industrial and enterprise customers. The ideal candidate will have experience building firmware for resource-constrained systems, leading firmware development for new products, and working with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Shape the hardware and software that runs on it
- Bring up new platforms and prototypes from virgin silicon
- Own the layers that determine device functionality and reliability
- Design protocols and hardware management for battery-powered sensors and gateways
- Partner with product, full-stack, mobile, and quality engineers
- Raise the bar for engineers around you
Requirements:
- 8+ years building firmware for resource-constrained systems
- Experience leading firmware development for new products
- Substantial bare-metal and RTOS experience
- Fluency in low-level interfaces and debugging
- Senior-level scope and cross-layer judgment
- Fluency in C and writing design documents
Nice to Have:
- BLE at depth
- Cellular IoT experience
- Securing embedded systems end-to-end
- OTA and device firmware update at fleet scale
- Factory floor experience
