Grab is Southeast Asia's leading superapp, offering various services such as food delivery, financial management, and ride-hailing.
The Fulfillment tech family is one of the pillars enabling Grab to out-serve customers and partners in different businesses and marketplaces across Southeast Asia. We work on high-throughput, real-time distributed systems that use machine learning techniques to solve hundreds of millions of requests per day.
We are looking for experienced and passionate Engineers to join our team. You will have opportunities to work on multiple backend service clusters and participate in building machine learning pipelines. You will report to the Senior Software Engineering Manager and work onsite in our Petaling Jaya, Malaysia office.
Critical Tasks:
- Design and write state-of-the-art Go language code to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Grab's services.
- Deploy performant cloud-based backend services.
- Participate in code and design reviews.
- End-to-end development of your team's products, including ownership of the team's infrastructure using Terraform, building and scaling full-stack solutions, designing efficient web interfaces, and performing root cause analysis investigations.
- Be part of on-call for your team's products and services, and participate in post-mortems for any incidents.
- Work with product managers, data analysts, and product designers to implement products and features, and test their impact on business metrics.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in software development.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, multithreading, and distributed systems, relational and non-relational databases.
- Proficient in at least one language commonly used for backend services development (C#, Java, C++, C).
- Willingness to work with Go and Rails.
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure with hands-on experience.
Nice-to-haves:
- Familiarity with running large-scale web services and understanding of systems internals and networking.
- Hands-on experience with Go programming language.
- Hands-on experience with Ruby (Rails).
- Hands-on experience with AWS/Azure.
- Hands-on experience with Flink/Kafka.
- Hands-on experience with GraphQL.
