Description

We're an iconic Aussie brand with a global footprint. Our purpose is to build a connected future so everyone can thrive.

As a Senior IT Domain Specialist aligned to Splunk ITSI, you lead the design, delivery and ongoing lifecycle management of observability, monitoring and service intelligence capabilities supporting Defence environments.

The role focuses on establishing reliable, secure and actionable visibility across platforms, services and integrations, enabling early detection of issues, improved service assurance and stronger operational control.

You will play a key role in transitioning observability capability from externally delivered support to an internally owned model, while driving automation, analytics uplift and continuous improvement across the service lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and delivery of complex Splunk and ITSI observability solutions across Defence environments
  • Own observability architecture, service modelling standards and platform roadmap aligned to operational, lifecycle and compliance requirements
  • Design, develop and maintain ITSI services, key performance indicators, correlation searches, notable events and health views
  • Lead data onboarding, source integration and monitoring uplift to improve service visibility across platforms, applications and interfaces
  • Build and optimise dashboards, alerts and reporting views that support incident response, service assurance and operational decision making
  • Oversee monitoring coverage for critical integrations, including validation of interface health, performance trends and early fault indicators
  • Own lifecycle activities for the observability platform, including upgrades, patching, release planning, configuration management and ongoing optimisation
  • Drive automation of monitoring, alerting and operational validation processes to reduce manual effort and improve reliability
  • Support transition of observability capability from external providers to internal teams, ensuring knowledge transfer, documentation and continuity
  • Identify risks across platform performance, data quality, alerting effectiveness and integration visibility, then implement practical mitigation strategies
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to specialist and associate level engineers
  • Influence stakeholders across engineering, operations, security and service management to align observability capability with business and customer outcomes
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement backlog, including monitoring maturity, event noise reduction, dashboard rationalisation, data quality improvement and operational process uplift
  • Ensure DevSecOps practices are embedded across observability delivery, operational support and lifecycle management

Benefits:

  • Performance-related pay
  • Access to thousands of learning programs
  • Global presence across 22 countries
  • Purchased annual leave scheme
  • Additional Telstra day off
  • Additional 30% off Telstra products and services
  • Toolkit provided (laptop + mobile phone + plan paid for)

Requirements:

  • Eight or more years experience delivering, operating or optimising observability, monitoring or operational support platforms, with strong preference for Splunk and ITSI
  • AGSVA NV2 Security Clearance
  • Splunk certifications across administration, architecture or ITSI desirable
  • Experience across both platform delivery and production support environments
  • Experience with monitoring design, event management, dashboarding, alerting and operational analytics
