Description
As a Senior/Principal Bridge Engineer at WSP in Birmingham, you will lead and review bridge design, strengthening and repair, inspections and assessments. You will also provide general civil and structural engineering support to other teams, conduct feasibility studies and options appraisals, and prepare/review specifications, reports and health and safety risk assessments.
The Civil and Bridge Engineering team in Birmingham consists of over 50 engineers, technicians and project management professionals. They work on various projects in the rail and highways sectors for clients including HS2, Network Rail, National Highways, Local Authorities, D&B Contractors and private sector clients.
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- Professional qualification and membership with the Institution of Civil Engineers or Institution of Structural Engineers (CEng MICE or MIStructE)
- Practical knowledge and experience of bridge design, maintenance and assessment
- Understanding and experience of Eurocodes and/or sector-specific codes and standards (e.g. Network Rail standards, DMRB)
- Experience of finite element analysis software and parametric design techniques
- Commercial awareness and experience of managing costs
- Good report-writing skills
- Experience of leading teams
- Good communication, client handling and interpersonal skills
