Description
NASCAR is seeking an experienced Computational Fluid Dynamics and Aerodynamics Engineer.
You will oversee NASCAR's computational fluid dynamics (CFD) initiatives, running simulations from CAD model creation through post-processing. Your responsibilities will include producing detailed analytical reports and supporting wind tunnel testing for research and development efforts and new vehicle submissions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) program in collaboration with TotalSim USA, managing aero team concepts and requests from CAD through post-processing.
- Maintain CFD models for all three NASCAR national series, supporting performance evaluation, liftoff analysis, and thermal studies.
- Assist with R&D wind tunnel testing, including vehicle preparation, prototype part fabrication, and data analysis.
- Support the new vehicle submission process.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
- Travel approximately 10%, including some weekends.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; a Master's degree is preferred.
- One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with CATIA, Beta CAE ANSA, OpenFoam, Siemens STAR-CCM+, ParaView, or similar tools is highly desirable.
- Background in automotive aerodynamics,especially high-performance or racing vehicles,is preferred.
- Strong interest in race car aerodynamics, CFD, and the role aerodynamics plays from single-vehicle performance to full-field behavior.
- Solid fundamentals in aerodynamics and CFD, including lift and drag, ground effects, and numerical simulation methods.
- Strong ability to interpret wind tunnel and on-car data.
