Description
We are seeking a GLO Customs & Compliance Specialist to join our team in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. This role is designed as 'Hybrid' with a requirement that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.
As a GLO Customs & Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring comprehensive compliance with international trade regulations, customs laws, import/export requirements, and corporate policies across global logistics operations. You will partner with internal and external stakeholders, including logistics, finance, government agencies, and customs brokers, to facilitate compliant, efficient cross-border transactions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and overseeing customs broker operations to ensure 100% compliance and accountability
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring customs and trade compliance programs, policies, and procedures
- Reviewing and validating customs documentation to ensure accuracy and regulatory adherence
- Managing customs clearance activities and resolving issues to minimize delays
- Collaborating with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and government agencies to optimize cross-border logistics
- Supporting governance activities, including broker performance management and compliance audits
- Monitoring changes in international trade regulations and assessing impacts on business operations
- Providing training and awareness programs to internal teams on customs and trade compliance requirements
- Identifying and mitigating compliance risks through internal reviews and assessments
- Driving process standardization, automation, and system enhancements to improve operational efficiency
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, Law, Economics, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in customs compliance, international trade, or global logistics
- Proven experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies
- Professional certifications in customs or trade compliance preferred
