Description

We are seeking a Senior Generalist Programmer to join our Paris studio team.

As a pioneer studio of Ubisoft, the Paris studio is behind some of the company's earliest successes since its creation in 1992. Today, it leads iconic franchises such as Just Dance, Ghost Recon, and Mario + The Lapins Crétins. The studio has also built a strong reputation as a partner of choice in inter-studio collaborations like Watch Dogs, Skull & Bones, Beyond Good & Evil 2, and Star Wars.

The successful candidate will design and build a powerful and reusable framework for our next-generation games powered by generative AI. Your goal is to create the 'engine behind the games': a robust foundation that handles technical complexity so that our game teams can focus 100% on creating innovative gameplay and fun.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop a central framework used by multiple productions to ensure rapid prototyping and scalable releases.
  • Standardise generic features: build reusable modules for meta-game systems, UI frameworks, and social features.
  • Master the SDK ecosystem: manage integration and maintenance of essential third-party SDKs.
  • Bridge the GenAI gap: create easy-to-use wrappers and pipelines for real-time GenAI features.
  • Release and platform management: streamline the build process and platform-specific deployments.
  • Optimisation: ensure the framework is lightweight, efficient, and ready for public distribution.

Qualifications:

  • 'Indie Dev' mentality: you are versatile and proactive, identifying game team needs and building accordingly.
  • 'Platform' thinking: you enjoy building systems that others will use.
  • Full autonomy: comfortable being the owner of the central codebase, responsible for stability and evolution.
  • In-depth technical versatility: expert-level understanding of Unity, native plugins, and interfaces with external APIs/services.
  • Curiosity about GenAI: enthusiastic about building infrastructure for real-time AI in games.
  • Problem solver: results-oriented mindset, able to navigate complex documentation and technical blockages.
  • Experience: proven track record of working on multiple video game developments, with experience in building reusable systems or managing complete production cycles.
  • Communication: fluent English, able to explain complex technical concepts to game designers and artists.
