Description
We are seeking a Naval Structural Designer to join our team in Newport News, VA. As a member of our multidisciplinary Ship Design team, you will be responsible for producing detailed structural 2D drawings, 3D models, and 2D assembly drawings using requirements documents, ship specifications, and regulatory body requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop structural 3D models and 2D assembly drawings using ShipConstructor
- Prepare accurate and detailed designs, free-form surface models, and drawings based on concept sketches or functional requirements
- Collaborate with clients, naval architects, and engineers to produce high-quality ship design products
Basic Qualifications:
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
- Associate's degree or 3+ years of relevant experience
- 3+ years of experience in structural design, 3D modeling, and 2D drawing development
- Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience working in the shipbuilding industry
- Strong oral, written, and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ShipConstructor and structural design on naval and/or commercial shipbuilding programs
- Knowledge of standards and regulatory body requirements, shipyard production/fabrication practices, and welding symbols
The pay range for this position is $50,700.00 - $91,650.00.
