- Raise the bar for quality, driving thoughtful interaction design, clear information architecture, accessible experiences, and strong execution from early concepts through launch.
- Make relevance understandable, helping people understand and influence what they see, and bringing clarity and user control to ranking, personalization, and recommendations.
- Design for different discovery needs, supporting people seeking a specific answer, exploring a new interest, or returning to communities they already value.
- Connect discovery to community health, considering how search and feeds affect participation, conversation quality, and the communities that make Reddit valuable.
- Establish how success is measured, using research, experimentation, and behavioral data to evaluate usefulness, satisfaction, and the quality of discovery alongside engagement.
- Influence across Reddit, communicating a clear point of view, building alignment across teams, and contributing to the broader design organization's standards and practices.
Requirements
- Experience leading design for complex consumer products at scale, with meaningful work in search, discovery, feeds, recommendations, or related experiences.
- A track record of building and developing design teams, including managing managers and supporting individual contributors.
- Strong product judgment and the ability to turn ambiguous problems into clear strategies and compelling experiences.
- Deep expertise in interaction design and information architecture, with a portfolio demonstrating both design quality and measurable user impact.
- Experience partnering with Engineering, Product, Research, and Data Science on experiences shaped by ranking and personalization systems.
- The ability to balance user needs, business priorities, technical constraints, and the health of a broader product ecosystem.
- Clear communication and the ability to influence senior leaders, resolve competing priorities, and make decisions with incomplete information.
- An appreciation for community-driven products and the different ways people seek information, participate, and build trust online.
