Job Title: SAP S4 Principal Systems Engineer-Finan

You will join the BBC's Media Tech team, which helps shape the future of corporate systems. In this role, you'll influence strategy and drive innovation across finance platforms, focusing on SAP (S4 HANA) and partner solutions. You'll contribute to delivering and managing complex technical changes and optimizing systems to maximize value and align with BBC business goals.

Purpose of the Role

The BBC's Media Tech team helps shape the future of our corporate systems. In this role, you'll influence strategy and drive innovation across finance platforms, focusing on SAP (S4 HANA) and partner solutions. You'll contribute to delivering and managing complex technical changes and optimizing systems to maximize value and align with BBC business goals.

Key Responsibilities and Impact:

Contribute to a technical roadmap for systems and services within their scope
Be responsible and accountable for small/medium technical changes, clarifying requirements submitted by BBC Business Users and managing a change process followed by an outsourced technology provider, including documentation creation/review, technical build, testing cycles, production deployment, and post-go-live support
Act as a trusted team member for larger projects with technical change elements, working closely with Project Management and Project Stakeholders to deliver timely, high-quality outcomes
Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, offering support and influence focused on best practice, achievable goals
Work with outsourced technology partners and internal stakeholders to support the resolution of incidents at varied severity levels
Coach colleagues and share good practice across modules

Skills and Experience

Essential Criteria:

Significant SAP functional experience, with depth expertise in SAP FI, Assets, Banking, and CO-PA, plus one other SD, MM, or PS modules. Hands-on S/4HANA experience, including at least one full implementation or migration lifecycle and ongoing support
Extensive experience and system specialist for Finance modules of SAP-S/4 and other Finance-related systems, including understanding how best-practice configurations align with business processes and providing guidance to a wide range of technical and functional stakeholders, including expertise in translating project, user, and product requirements into technical solutions
Experience with the following software: SAP Finance and Controlling, SAP S/4, detailed SAP integration knowledge with SD, MM, FI-CO, PS, Intercompany, Tax, Financial Statement processes, E-invoicing, and integration (SAP-BTP)
Experience reviewing technical and functional documentation, identifying and revising based on SAP best practice, quality, clarity, and completeness. Experience integrating SAP with third-party applications
Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at various levels, translating and imparting technical concepts into audience-relevant information, including leading on requirements gathering with business process owners and presenting solution options that align with BBC Engineering Strategies. Dealing with multiple priorities, managing conflict, and using influencing skills to ensure that projects/assignments are properly commissioned and delivered into the business

Desired:

Experience with the following software: SAP S/4 Hana (FI/CO, SD, MM, PS), Treasury, SAP Fiori, Concur, SAP Signavio, SAP Joule, SAP Walkme, Workiva, One Source, Kyriba, Taxually, Blackline, BTP (CPI, APIM, E-invoicing)
Understanding of media-specific processes relating to an organization's financial operation, e.g., Production Accounting, Content Distribution, Media supply chain, Broadcasting, or rights-driven business. Familiarity with rights, royalties, or content-cost processes
Understanding the necessity of security, access control, and segregation of duties in system design
Ability to write and communicate complex technology solutions in a clear and coherent way
