Description
We are seeking a full-time Chinese Interpreter & Translator to join our team at Millennium Translations Ltd in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing consecutive interpretation services in various settings, including mental health, healthcare, and legal environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret verbal communications in real-time into another language, paying close attention to context, meaning, tone, and technical wording.
- Consult reference materials to stay updated with terminology and acquire specialist knowledge when needed.
- Attend booked assignments and travel to and from assignments.
- Maintain high standards of professional behavior, confidentiality, and adhere to the Interpreter Code of Conduct.
- Work on projects such as community engagement and outreach.
Requirements:
- Fluency in English and Chinese.
- Full UK driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Current, valid Enhanced CRB clearance.
- Minimum of one year's professional experience as an interpreter.
- Minimum of 200 hours previous experience working as an Interpreter, ideally within the public sector.
- Qualifications in interpreting, translation, or linguistics (MA, BA, DPSI, Community Interpreting Certificate).
