Description
We are seeking a Sr Manager or Principal Engineer for Firmware Development to join our Hardware Engineers team at Synopsys. As a leader in firmware development, you will be responsible for designing and developing cutting-edge semiconductor solutions, specifically focusing on Serdes PHY firmware for next-generation PAM4 PCIe and Ethernet.
Your role will sit at the intersection of deep technical work and team leadership, requiring you to bring engineers together to identify and solve technical issues. You will collaborate closely with systems, analog design, digital design, verification, and lab teams during firmware development and debugging.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing firmware for next-generation PAM4 Serdes spanning multiple protocols like PCIe and Ethernet
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions
- Driving improvements in firmware design methodologies across the organization
- Defining verification plans and building verification environments for chip/module level designs
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- 10+ years of working experience in a related field
- A bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
- Understanding of both digital logic and firmware/software development
- Proficiency in C
- Experience with structured firmware development, verification, and documentation processes
- Working knowledge of cross-development tool flows and digital logic design
