Description
Leidos is seeking a Senior Buyer to support our Huntsville, Alabama facility. The Senior Buyer is responsible for the procurement of various components, machines, and equipment. Telework option will be considered.
The Senior Buyer will develop and negotiate favourable prices on higher complexity procurements, including terms, schedules, and other provisions of purchase orders and acquisition contracts. They will ensure consistency with client requirements and procurement policies/procedures under supervisor guidance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Purchase order administration and file maintenance
- Creating solicitations and supporting proposals
- Conducting price and cost analysis
- Negotiating price/cost and price/cost-related terms
- Procuring higher complexity and risk items
- Collaborating cross-functionally regarding policies, practices, and procedures
- Reviewing proposals and selecting or recommending suppliers
- Recommending improvements to procurement processes and procedures
- Applying advanced knowledge of procurement, sourcing, supplier management, negotiation, cost and price analysis, and regulatory compliance
The Senior Buyer will also support and review the work of other buyers, assist the team as needed, develop or review prime contract flowdown documents, and support internal/external audit activities.

Basic qualifications for the role include:
- Typically requires a BA degree and 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong customer service mentality
- Ability to multi-task and strong organisational skills
- Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
Preferred qualifications include:
- Costpoint experience
- Terms and Conditions negotiation experience
- Knowledge of build to print, fabricated parts, and components
- Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation and agency-specific supplements such as the DFARS
