An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and accredited Lead Nurse Colposcopist to join our Colposcopy Service at Whipps Cross Hospital on a part-time basis (0.4 WTE).
This senior clinical leadership role combines expert autonomous colposcopy practice with service leadership, quality improvement and workforce development. The successful candidate will share the leadership and delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care for women referred through the NHS Cervical Screening Programme and suspected cancer pathways, ensuring the service meets national standards and performance targets.
Working closely with the Clinical Leads, Matrons, Associate Director of Nursing, Service Manager and multidisciplinary team, the post holder will support service delivery, patient access, workforce development and continuous improvement. They will provide expert clinical advice, supervision and training to colleagues while maintaining a significant clinical presence within the service.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will take full responsibility for the effective running of the colposcopy service and delivery of integrated care to women.
- The post holder will have an in-depth knowledge of the NHS cervical screening programme, gynecology and health promotion.
- They will be responsible for the co-ordination of all activities within the Colposcopy service working collaboratively with and alongside the colposcopy team.
- The post holder will work in partnership with the Colposcopy lead consultant and the Clinical Director for Obstetrics and Gynaecology to deliver the clinical objectives of the Colposcopy and Gynaecology service.
- The post holder will be accredited experienced nurse colposcopist and act as an autonomous practitioner in undertaking diagnostic and therapeutic clinic sessions, taking responsibility and accountability for appropriate clinical management and care programmes.

Requirements
- Registered nurse
- BSCCP/RCOG accreditation in diagnostic and therapeutic colposcopy
- BSCCP accredited trainer
- Specialist post registration courses in Gynaecology/ Sexual Health
- Substantial experience at Band 7 or above working within a clinical specialist environment
- Evidence of management of change, leadership and development of services
- Leadership and initiative skills
- Management skills including experience of team leadership and team building initiatives.
- Advanced organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at various stages of development
- Ability to work autonomously while coordinating and liaising with different aspects of projects.
