Description
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) seeks a Consultant Senior Project Associate (DTM Research) to support its research program in Ndjamena, Chad.
The position involves ensuring methodological coherence, scientific rigor, and operational relevance of research activities under the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) project, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO).
The successful candidate will contribute to designing and implementing a priority research program on migration, mobility, and displacement in Chad, collaborating with national institutions, universities, research centers, and development partners.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring methodological consistency and scientific quality of research activities
- Contributing to the design and implementation of a priority research program on migration
- Conducting studies and analyses on emerging migration dynamics
- Developing and applying analytical frameworks and methodologies to understand cross-border mobility and migration trends
- Producing analyses and knowledge on migrant smuggling, human trafficking, and displacement
- Supporting the creation and operationalization of a Migration Research and Data Network
- Transforming research findings into policy recommendations and operational products
The ideal candidate should have:
- A PhD in demography, migration studies, human geography, sociology, anthropology, political science, development economics, applied statistics, or a related field
- At least three years of postdoctoral professional or academic experience in conducting applied or academic research on migration, population displacement, or related issues
- Solid experience in designing and implementing research programs, including protocol formulation, methodology development, and analytical frameworks
- Demonstrated experience in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research
- Experience in publishing scientific articles, working papers, research reports, or peer-reviewed academic publications
- Excellent command of French and English, both written and spoken
The consultancy is expected to last up to 11 months, with an initial contract duration of 6 months.
