Medical Scribe (Clinical Informatics Specialist)

At Oak Street Health, Clinical Informatics Specialists (CIS), or Medical Scribes, serve as vital clinical documentation assistants, supporting primary care providers.

The role involves documenting patient encounters, assigning CPT and ICD-10 codes, and preparing after-visit summaries.

Responsibilities:

• Documenting patient encounters, including observing patient visits, documenting patient encounters in a structured note, assigning CPT and ICD-10 codes, preparing after-visit summaries, and consulting with providers to ensure accurate and specific documentation.
• Clinical documentation improvement, including requesting and reviewing medical records, leveraging population health tools, and consulting with providers on clinical documentation opportunities.
• Administrative support for providers and care teams, including placing orders and referrals, addressing tasks, and supporting care teams with additional responsibilities related to clinical documentation.

Requirements:

• Minimum typing speed of 55 WPM, with 70+ WPM preferred.
• Commitment of at least 1 year, with 2 or more years preferred.
• Excellent job attendance, including the ability to work in-person within the clinic for approximately 40-45 hours per week.
• Advanced listening and communication skills.
• Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new technical processes.
• Ability to work well on own and as a team member.
• Compliance with hospital and Oak Street Health policies, including HIPAA.
• US work authorisation.

Preferred qualifications:

• Recent graduate or current student of a healthcare-based degree program.
• Experience in a detail-oriented role.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and common medications.
• Prior clinical experience.
• Fluency in another language.

The typical pay range for this role is $17.00 - $28.46 per hour.
