Description
The Junior Buyer and Product Developer will play an integral supporting role in the sourcing and product development strategy for Soho Home's Lighting and Home Accessories category.
Reporting to the Buying and Product Development Manager, you will support the team to optimize the performance of the buying and product development functions, to execute design briefs to a high standard whilst maximizing profitability.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the development critical path and ensuring key calendar milestones are met
- Managing administrative tasks and product lifecycles with the support of a Buying and Product Development Assistant
- Updating and maintaining the seasonal development tracker
- Collaborating with the Soho Home Design team to ensure briefs are executed to the highest standard
- Issuing seasonal briefs to suppliers and communicating specifications, price targets, and key deadlines
- Attending design and production meetings and final sample inspections
- Working closely with the Technical team to ensure products meet quality, legal, and safety standards
- Assisting with meeting preparations and ad-hoc department tasks
- Leading department trade preparation and presenting in the absence of the Manager
- Driving commercial analysis of the department in collaboration with the Merchandising team
- Compiling competitive analysis reports and demonstrating awareness of competitors and external industry trends
The ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of 3 years product development and commercial buying experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with a varied supply base, including domestic, European, and Far East suppliers
- Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work in a fast-paced office environment and adapt to changing priorities
