Description

Howden is seeking a Product Governance Apprentice for their 2027 intake. As a Product Governance Apprentice, you will review and shape insurance products that work for customers. You will gain real experience, work towards a recognised qualification, and build skills that will shape your future.

The Product Governance team reviews products throughout their life cycle, from launch to future changes or withdrawal, to check they meet customers' needs and continue to provide fair value. You will use data such as claims, customer feedback, and complaints to spot risks and identify where products could be improved.

You will begin with a structured induction before joining the Product Governance team, where you will work alongside experienced colleagues and gradually take on more responsibility. During the programme, you will:

  • Build your knowledge of insurance products and the regulations Howden must follow.
  • Learn how insurance products move through their life cycle, from initial design and launch to review, improvement or withdrawal.
  • Support regular reviews to check that products meet the needs of their intended customers and continue to offer fair value.
  • Review information including claims data, customer survey results, satisfaction measures, and complaints.
  • Help compare product performance and customer outcomes against relevant regulatory expectations.
  • Collaborate and gain exposure to colleagues across broking, claims, insurers, risk, compliance, and other areas of the business.

No insurance experience is needed; you'll be taught everything you need to know! You will be:

  • Curious, willing to ask questions, and keen to understand how insurance products work and affect customers.
  • Comfortable working with numbers, data, and spreadsheets.
  • Analytical and logical, with an interest in analysing various sources of information and spotting patterns.
  • Confident building relationships and working with people from different teams.
  • Organised and able to manage several responsibilities while following clear processes.
  • Adaptable and able to change focus when priorities shift.
  • Resilient and comfortable working in a fast-moving environment.

To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must:

  • Have the full and unrestricted right to work in the UK.
  • Have lived permanently in the UK for the last 3 years.
  • Have achieved a grade C/4 in GCSE English and Maths.
  • Not already hold a qualification that significantly overlaps with the content of this apprenticeship.

In return, you will receive:

  • A salary of £23,000.
  • A generous pension scheme.
  • Fully funded professional qualifications relevant to your role.
  • Structured learning and development through an 18-month apprenticeship development programme.
  • 25 days' annual leave, plus bank holidays.
