Description
At Instacart, we're transforming the grocery industry by delivering an essential service that customers rely on to get their groceries and household goods. We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to join our Enterprise Foundations team, which is responsible for the architectural and integration work that allows Instacart's Retailer Platform to scale across the world's largest grocers.
As a Senior Software Engineer II, you will own and ship one of the team's most complex multi-quarter work-streams, focusing on omnichannel identity, international storefront search expansions, and partner-owned integrations. You will be the technical DRI for your area, framing the problem, designing the systems, driving the rollout, and codifying the patterns so the rest of Enterprise Platform can adopt them without your direct involvement.
Responsibilities:
- Own a multi-quarter integration workstream end to end
- Drive the technical direction for your area
- Lead vendor and cross-team integrations
- Build reusable patterns, frameworks, and templates
- Operate hands-on as a senior individual contributor
- Mentor more junior engineers
Requirements:
- 7+ years of backend software engineering experience
- Demonstrated ability to act as the technical DRI for cross-team workstreams
- Experience designing and shipping distributed systems and integrations
- Strong proficiency with backend technologies
- Track record of producing durable technical artifacts
- Demonstrated ability to operate in ambiguous, high-growth environments
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct domain experience in commerce platforms, omnichannel retail, OMS, POS, catering systems, or connected-store / in-store technology
- Experience with customer identity, account linking, or SSO integrations
- Experience building or scaling search, retrieval, or ranking systems
- Background working on international expansion
- Experience leading vendor or partner-owned integrations
- Experience designing per-tenant configuration, isolation, and extensibility for multi-tenant enterprise platforms
