We are seeking a Senior Engineer (Backend), AVP to join our team. You will be a seasoned technical leader with a software engineering background, responsible for improving functional performance and delivering divisional business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the feature team, collaborating with others to understand requirements, analyze and refine stories, design solutions, implement them, test them, and support them in production
- Use BDD techniques, collaborating closely with users, analysts, developers, and other testers to ensure we are building the right thing
- Rapid prototype development
- Write code and write it well, using test-driven development, writing clean code, and refactoring constantly
- Be ready to work on a range of technologies and components, including user interfaces, services, and databases
- Define and evolve the architecture of the components you are working on and contribute to architectural decisions at a department and bank-wide level
- Ensure that the software you build is reliable and easy to support in production
- Help your team to build, test, and release software within short lead times and with minimum of waste

Requirements:
- Experienced in Spec-Driven Development using AI tools
- Proficiency in Java/Kotlin with a good understanding of both object-oriented and functional programming concepts
- Practical experience in building data engineering solutions
- Strong knowledge of Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Maven, PHP, Redis, Elastic Search
- Strong knowledge of Github Actions, CI/CD pipeline, Container-native delivery: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm
- Experience with setting up key stores, generating SSL Certificates, Gateways, Apigee
- Experience working in an agile team, practicing Scrum, Kanban, or XP
- Experience of Automated Testing is highly desirable
- Architecture and design approaches that support rapid, incremental, and iterative delivery
- Deep API design (GraphQL and REST) and inter-service communication (sync + async/eventing)
- High-performance SQL data access - SQL scripts
- Database: Oracle 10G or higher for Liquibase database automation and Postgres – modelling, performance, zero-low downtime schema change
- Ability to read and safely evolve an unfamiliar legacy PHP codebase
