We are seeking a strategic Senior Contracts Procurement Manager to lead our contract management function and forge supplier partnerships. The Senior Contracts Procurement Manager at Instacart will serve as a key point of contact, enforcing our enterprise-wide strategy, governance, and execution of procurement contracting. Reporting to the Head of Procurement, this role drives business-term negotiations, ensures seamless partnership with organizations such as Legal and Third Party Review (TPRM), and delivers measurable value through risk-adjusted, cost-optimized agreements.
What you'll cook up in your first year
Governance
- Develop and enforce procurement contract policies, playbooks, and templates in lockstep with Legal, TPRM, and Finance, with clean documentation maintained to support SOX and internal audit processes.
- Track and report KPIs including contract cycle time and compliance rates, with routine performance updates presented to stakeholders.
Business-Term Negotiations
- Personally lead strategic, high-value, and high-complexity contracts through the full procurement contract lifecycle, securing optimal outcomes across SLAs, scope, exit clauses, payment terms, and auto-renewals.
- Gather business requirements from internal stakeholders and translate them into enforceable contract language, preserving supplier relationships throughout.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Develop criteria with Legal for contracts that can be executed without Legal engagement, reducing redline cycles by 50% through pre-approved clause libraries.
- Collaborate with Legal to develop and maintain fallback positions, escalating redlines outside approved positions for Legal review.
The secret ingredients we're looking for
Must-have pantry staples (Minimum Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, or related field; JD strongly preferred
- 10+ years in procurement/contract management
- Proven track record closing complex, multi-year deals with global Tier-1 suppliers
- Deep experience embedding information security and data privacy terms into commercial agreements
- Prior in-house collaboration with General Counsel and CISO offices
- Master negotiator comfortable at the executive table; able to articulate ROI of contractual positions
- Proficiency with CLM platforms (Ironclad), Procurement platforms (Zip)
- Executive presence with exceptional communication, influence, and change-management capabilities.

- Experience in a high-growth tech or marketplace environment, such as e-commerce or SaaS platforms
