Director, FP&A

Cockroach Labs is seeking a Director of FP&A to reimagine the FP&A function from the ground up and lead it into the next era of finance.

The successful candidate will report directly to the CFO and architect a fundamentally different way of working, one where AI handles routine, data-intensive work, and FP&A operates as a real-time decision engine.

Key responsibilities include:

• Reimagining the FP&A operating model, transforming it into an AI-native intelligence hub
• Owning long-range strategic planning and building a long-range financial model
• Leading the company-wide planning and forecasting process, shifting to rolling, continuously updated forecasts
• Serving as a strategic finance partner to the CFO and executive team
• Leading the design and delivery of board materials and investor-facing packages
• Driving interactive, real-time scenario modeling
• Deploying self-serve financial intelligence across the business
• Leading a lean, high-impact FP&A team

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of progressive experience in finance, spanning investment banking, private equity, and/or FP&A at a high-growth company, with a strong foundation in financial modeling and analysis.

Requirements include:

• Fluency with recurring and consumption-based revenue models and metrics
• A strong ownership instinct and bias toward speed
• A track record of driving AI or technology-led transformation of a finance function
• Strong financial modeling, scenario analysis, and integrated three-statement forecasting skills
• Experience building and presenting board-level and investor-facing financial materials
• Familiarity with modern AI-enabled FP&A tooling landscape
• Exceptional executive presence and ability to translate machine-generated intelligence into human narrative
