Description
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer II to join our team at Ultima Genomics in Fremont, CA. As an Electrical Engineer II, you will shape the technical direction of next-generation automated sequencing instruments.
Responsibilities:
- Design custom printed circuit boards (PCBs) and wire harnesses for complex electromechanical systems
- Translate system requirements into electrical specifications and participate in design reviews and risk assessments
- Define and execute experiments to verify hardware and firmware functionality
- Perform prototype testing and document findings and design improvements
- Design automated test and measurement systems to identify component-level failures
- Develop build, test, and training documentation and maintain electrical design records
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- BS in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 2+ years of relevant industry experience
- Hands-on experience designing custom PCBs and mixed-signal electronics with embedded microcontrollers
- Proficiency with electronic design tools such as Altium Designer or KiCad
- Experience designing industrial electrical systems, including power-supply sizing and component selection
- Strong troubleshooting skills for board-level electronics and complex multidisciplinary systems
