Description
As a Senior Software Engineer at Toast, you will independently design and implement well-defined features across the full stack with minimal day-to-day guidance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with Product Managers, UX designers, QA, and fellow engineers to translate requirements into working software.
- Developing and maintaining frontend features using React or Angular, focusing on usability and performance.
- Contributing to backend services using Java, Kotlin, or .NET.
- Building and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating with internal systems.
- Writing clean, maintainable, and testable code aligned with Toast engineering standards.
- Participating actively in code reviews and troubleshooting production and non-production issues.
To thrive in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in any area, or any other related discipline.
- 6+ years of experience in software or full-stack development.
- Strong hands-on experience with frontend frameworks such as React or Angular.
- Solid backend development experience in Java, Kotlin, or .NET.
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Proficiency with Git and modern branching workflows.
- Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, including basic schema design and querying.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
- Familiarity with Gradle or Maven for build and dependency management.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to code quality.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-have skills include exposure to AI-assisted development tools, basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows, and experience working in a large-scale SaaS or product engineering environment.
