Description
WSP is seeking a Substation Area Lead for their Hawaii office. The successful candidate will manage a team of designers and engineers, report to the Substation Department Manager, and share responsibility for managing day-to-day department activities.
The Area Lead will support the Department Manager in achieving business plan goals, maintaining high-quality standards, promoting internal teamwork, and meeting client needs. They will also contribute to proposal development, project design, and technical evaluations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as a trusted advisor to the Department Manager
- Managing financial and technical aspects of Substation team performance
- Supporting proposal development and project design
- Directing others in detailed design of medium to extra-high-voltage substations
- Preparing one-line diagrams, schematics, and SCADA designs
- Developing substation equipment specifications
- Performing facility studies and related technical evaluations
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer
- Demonstrable leadership experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

The expected salary range for this position is $150,000 - $200,000.
