Description
We are seeking a Full-stack Engineer 4 to join our team at Capital One. As a Full-stack Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring engineering teams, advancing developer experience and AI workflows, empowering engineering productivity, delivering cloud-based solutions, leveraging modern tech stacks, driving technical and operational excellence, partnering on architecture and strategy, reducing technical debt and refactoring, and fostering tech community engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers experienced in distributed microservices and full-stack systems
- Build and enhance internal tools, platforms, and AI-powered workflows
- Invest in developer tooling to directly improve engineering productivity, code quality, and overall developer experience at scale
- Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust, scalable AWS cloud solutions
- Utilize programming languages such as Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript
- Provide technical leadership across Agile teams and set high standards for system design, software development, and operational excellence
- Partner with enterprise architects to define service boundaries, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks
- Proactively identify areas for improvement and implement targeted refactoring to eliminate technical debt and optimize system performance
- Stay on top of emerging technology trends and experiment with new technologies
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field
- At least 4 years of experience in software engineering
- At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 7+ years of experience coding with more than two of the following: Python, TypeScript, or JavaScript
- 3+ years of experience with database and database management systems
- 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or cloud-based productivity tools or virtualization technologies
Salary:
- McLean, VA: $197,300 - $225,100 per year
- Plano, TX: $179,400 - $204,700 per year
