Description
The Creative Lab Supervisor provides leadership support in the day-to-day operations of the location, focusing on patron experience, and supervises department staff and volunteers. This position performs various services focusing on creative technology programs, digital equity, and digital literacy for all ages.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and supervision to department staff and volunteers.
- Ensure high-quality customer service to library patrons.
- Create and deliver high-quality library programs and outreach services to community members.
- Operate and maintain Creative Lab equipment.
- Provide in-depth reference, research assistance, technology assistance, and individualized instruction to patrons.
- Create and maintain displays.
- Assist with facility/location management.
- Foster good working relationships with diverse people.
- Use de-escalation and conflict resolution strategies.
- Share responsibility for training department staff.
- Lead change and help staff develop agility and resilience.
- Perform a leadership role in the creation and execution of substantial library projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Library and Information Science.
- Previous library experience and 1 year of supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of personal computer software and hardware.
- Ability to analyze technology equipment issues and make recommendations.
- Experience with designing and teaching computer skill classes to adult learners.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with ethnically and economically diverse groups.
- Understanding of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Spanish language and/or other non-English language skills.
- Experience with library operations, programs, and services.
- Experience with library computer systems, databases, software, and commonly used technology and applications.
- Knowledge of digital literacy, emerging technologies, and current trends in creative technology and digital media.
Working Environment:
- Work is performed in an urban library environment.
- Considerable exposure to stressful situations.
- Subject to repetitive movement, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting of objects.
Schedule:
- Full-time, 40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.
