Description

We are seeking a Senior Health Insurance Specialist to lead, coach, and manage a team of Health Insurance Specialists responsible for achieving Bupa Global's sales targets through its partnership with Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore.

The role works closely with Standard Chartered Relationship Managers and Insurance Specialists to build referral opportunities, identify eligible customers, and support effective sales engagement. The Senior Health Insurance Specialist and the team engage directly with referred customers to understand their needs, explain the proposition, recommend appropriate cover, and sell Bupa Global's individual international private medical insurance plans designed exclusively for the bank's priority private and affluent customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own delivery of the Singapore Standard Chartered sales target, translating annual objectives into clear team plans, activity expectations, and individual performance goals.
  • Recruit, onboard, lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Health Insurance Specialists, setting clear expectations and fostering a customer-focused, compliant, and accountable sales culture.
  • Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, coaching sessions, and formal performance reviews, managing performance in line with Bupa's people policies and applicable training and competency requirements.
  • Manage the team's sales pipeline, referral activity, conversion, productivity, and service levels; maintain accurate forecasts and provide timely, insightful sales and performance reporting.
  • Lead and support direct, needs-based customer sales conversations, particularly for complex or high-value cases, ensuring recommendations are appropriate, clearly explained, and accurately documented.
  • Build strong working relationships with Standard Chartered Relationship Managers and Insurance Specialists to generate qualified referrals, improve customer engagement, and increase conversion while maintaining clear roles and responsibilities in the sales process.
  • Oversee the end-to-end customer journey from referral, initial contact, and fact-finding through quotation, application, underwriting, policy issuance, and follow-up, working with internal teams to resolve issues promptly.
  • Ensure the team protects customer personal and medical information and complies with applicable Singapore data-protection requirements, Bupa policies, and Standard Chartered information-handling requirements.
  • Maintain full compliance with applicable Singapore insurance licensing, conduct, disclosure, record-keeping, and continuing competency requirements, and ensure consistently fair customer outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with Bupa Global Sales Support, Underwriting, Operations, Compliance, Marketing, and other relevant teams to progress cases, remove operational barriers, and deliver a seamless customer and partner experience.
  • Assist the Head of Channel Sales on project-related work, including management updates, sales reporting and forecasting, sales initiatives and programs, and sales engagement plans. Track actions, assess results, and support effective implementation across the channel.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, health insurance, or a related field.
  • Hold, or be able to obtain before appointment, all licenses, certifications, and competency requirements applicable to the sale of the relevant insurance products in Singapore.
  • Maintain all required continuing professional development, product knowledge, and training and competency standards.
  • Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Mandarin or another language relevant to Standard Chartered's Singapore customer base is advantageous.

Key Skills/Qualifications:

  • Customer Centricity – Understands the needs of priority private and affluent customers and ensures the team delivers suitable solutions and consistently high-quality outcomes.
  • Product and Regulatory Knowledge – Good understanding of individual IPMI, underwriting considerations, product benefits, exclusions, and the applicable sales and conduct framework.
  • Leadership and Communication – Sets clear direction, coaches effectively, and communicates persuasively with customers, colleagues, and partner stakeholders across different cultural contexts.
  • Sales Leadership and Execution – Translates targets into account plans and team activity, manages pipelines and forecasts, and applies consultative selling techniques to convert quality referrals into sustainable sales.
  • Partnership and Stakeholder Management – Builds trusted relationships with Standard Chartered and Bupa stakeholders, coordinates shared priorities, and resolves issues constructively.
  • Delivery and Adaptability – Manages competing priorities, delivers projects and sales initiatives at pace, and adapts effectively within a dynamic bank environment.
