Description

You will collaborate with a global team of software engineers and SREs responsible for delivering outstanding collaboration experiences at scale.

As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) and Software Developer supporting backend services for Cisco’s SaaS teamwork products, you will play a critical role in delivering reliable, scalable, and resilient experiences across Webex Suites solutions.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Own the deployment and operation of critical collaboration services across cloud and hybrid environments, driving reliability and scalability.
  • Develop, evolve, and optimize CI/CD pipelines and automation, including AI‑first tooling for deployment, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Lead incident response for complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive systemic reliability and performance improvements.
  • Use observability data to guide capacity planning, scaling strategies, and resource optimization across services.
  • Define and champion operational best practices, documentation standards, and a culture of reliability and operational perfection.
  • Develop Python backend services, REST APIs, and background jobs for operational automation.
  • Develop and implement MCP tools that expose operational capabilities to AI clients, with clear tool descriptions, input schemas, validation, structured results, and useful error responses.
  • Supply to the shared tool-execution platform used by MCP and the Webex bot's AI workflow, so a capability follows consistent rules regardless of how it is invoked.
  • Build integrations with systems used for deployments, DNS, VIPS, certificates, storage, Kubernetes, and configuration management.
  • Ensure automation respects permissions, approval requirements, job tracking, and audit records-particularly for operations that change infrastructure.
  • Solve issues across APIs, background workers, MCP tool calls, and external systems. Improve tests, logs, metrics, and documentation based on what you learn.
  • Participate in design discussions and code reviews and work with multi-functional teams to deliver practical solutions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) with 5 Plus in Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Operations, Software Development or Systems Engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience operating production services using Docker and Kubernetes in cloud or hybrid environments.
  • Proficiency in Python and more programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, Go, Bash) to build automation and operational tooling.
  • Experience with monitoring, observability, and incident response in production environments, including on-call participation and post-incident reviews.
  • Working knowledge of Linux systems, networking, distributed systems, relational databases, REST API, Kubernetes, Argo, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and Git-based workflows.
