Description
We are seeking a Structural Engineer to join our WSP Local Government team in East Sussex, based in our Lewes office with hybrid working arrangements.
As a Structural Engineer in our Highways Structures team, you will support our Local Authority client in maintaining and enhancing their highway structures across East Sussex. The team has extensive knowledge of various structures in the county and works on a wide range of projects including design, assessment, and inspection schemes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing new and replacement bridges and retaining walls
- Inspecting, assessing, repairing, and strengthening existing structures
- Managing projects from inception to construction
- Coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams
- Conducting site work for construction supervision, surveys, and inspections
- Supporting early careers professionals
Requirements:
- Passion for projects making a difference to local communities
- Experience in bridge design, maintenance, assessment, and inspections
- Familiarity with Eurocodes or sector-specific codes and standards
- Strong communication skills
- Working towards Incorporated or Chartered status with a professional institution
- Civil engineering degree or equivalent qualification
