Description
We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Tier 4 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CYPMHS) at Rhodes Wood Hospital, providing specialist care for young people aged 12 to 18 with eating disorders.
As a CYPMHS Consultant Psychiatrist, you will review referrals, conduct admission assessments, and ensure effective management plans are in place. You will lead risk assessments, oversee physical health evaluations, and provide clinical leadership, supervision, and reflective practice for key workers within the team.
Your role will include:
- Reviewing referrals and determining appropriateness for admission
- Conducting admission assessments and ensuring effective management plans
- Participating in the assessment and management of children and young people referred to the Service
- Conducting risk assessments and reviews
- Assessing physical health
- Providing leadership, supervision, and risk management to key workers
- Abiding by and contributing to governance arrangements and processes
- Supervising non-training grade doctors and psychiatric trainees
- Enacting cross-cover arrangements for annual, study, and professional leave
- Participating in the CYPMHS Consultant on-call duty rota
- Participating in Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Establishing effective working relationships with GPs, CYPMHS community teams, specialists, and commissioners
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- To be registered on the GMC Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with a licence to practise
- Experience of CYPMHS Eating Disorders
