Description
Giant Robots Labs, an experimental technology lab inside GovTech's Government Technology Office, is seeking a Creative Technologist who thinks by making. This role involves working alongside pilot teams to turn ambiguous problems and early hypotheses into tangible products.
Responsibilities
- Work with pilot teams to create tangible products from ambiguous problems and early hypotheses.
- Help pilots prototype at various fidelity levels to answer questions quickly.
- Explore product and interaction directions with pilots to test alternatives and make informed decisions.
- Assist teams in getting work in front of users, agency partners, and domain experts early, and incorporate feedback into product changes.
- Bring design judgment and craft into pilots from their earliest stages through prototype and limited beta, collaborating closely with product engineers.
- Move across pilots as needs change, helping teams overcome product and interaction problems and improve the quality of what GRL ships.
- Develop lightweight working methods, tools, and practices that enable small pilot teams to design and learn effectively.
Requirements
- You make things rather than describe what should be made, using prototypes as a means of thinking and learning.
- You are comfortable with ambiguity and willing to adjust your ideas based on testing results.
- You are proficient in picking up unfamiliar tools, including AI and emerging technologies.
- You enjoy working across different problem domains and do not require ownership of a single product.
What You Can Expect
- A wide variety of problems, products, and domains across the Singapore public sector.
- Freedom to solve problems your way rather than delivering predetermined artifacts.
- Collaboration with small teams to create working prototypes quickly.
- Direct access to problem owners, including frontline officers and policy leads.
- Opportunities to experiment with new tools, technologies, and approaches.
- A culture that values curiosity, craft, working prototypes, and evidence over process and artifacts.
Benefits
- Collaborative and creative work environment
- Competitive salary and benefits package
- Opportunities for professional growth and development
- Supportive work environment for self-improvement and personal/professional development
