Description
We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to be the local representative of our mechanical engineering team in Israel across our manufacturing sites and mechanical suppliers in China.
You will be our mechanical expert on the ground, working directly with manufacturing partners and suppliers to address technical and manufacturing challenges and continuously improve the way our products are built.
You will own manufacturing challenges from identification through implementation of the solution, support the design and improvement of jigs and fixtures, drive manufacturing process improvements, and help optimize production lines for quality, efficiency, and scalability.
This role is ideal for a highly technical and creative engineer who enjoys working close to the hardware, tackling real-world manufacturing challenges, and thinking outside the box. You will act as a key bridge between our engineering teams in Israel and our manufacturing partners in China.
Responsibilities:
- Acting as the on-site mechanical point of contact representing NVIDIA Israel's mechanical department across manufacturing sites and mechanical suppliers in China, owning the daily mechanical agenda across active programs.
- Working closely with manufacturing partners and mechanical part suppliers to investigate and address mechanical and manufacturing challenges, including quality and yield-related topics.
- Investigating manufacturing challenges, escalations and yield blockers on the production floor, applying structured root-cause methods such as fishbone and fault-tree analysis, with documented corrective actions.
- Supporting the design, development, troubleshooting and improvement of manufacturing jigs and fixtures, working directly with suppliers and production teams to implement practical solutions on the line.
- Driving manufacturing process improvements and production-line optimization, identifying opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, repeatability and scalability.
- Leading technical investigations on builds, line returns and qualification samples, including inspection, microscopy, dimensional metrology, cross-section, contamination and assembly-process analysis.
- Planning and running mechanical experiments and structured design-of-experiments on-site, aligning test plans with the Israel team, executing on the production floor, and reporting results back.
- Supporting bring-ups, pilot runs, production builds and mass production, with hands-on presence on the manufacturing floor to make real-time mechanical decisions and capture build learnings.
Requirements:
- Engineering diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience as a mechanical engineer in similar roles, such as datacom, server, networking, datacenter, or comparably complex electronic hardware products.
- Hands-on experience working with contract manufacturers, original design manufacturers, and/or mechanical part suppliers in new product introduction, ramp or mass-production environments.
- Strong technical capabilities and the ability to independently investigate and address complex mechanical and manufacturing challenges.
- Track record leading technical investigations from initial findings through verified root cause and implementation of documented corrective actions.
- Experience with manufacturing processes, production tooling, jigs and fixtures, including troubleshooting and improving existing manufacturing solutions.
- Hands-on knowledge and experience with joining and brazing processes, including high-frequency brazing, oven brazing, soldering, welding, and related manufacturing processes.
- Strong command of mechanical inspection and metrology, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, coordinate measuring machines, vision systems, gauges and dimensional analysis.
Nice to Have:
- Prior on-site experience at a major contract manufacturer, ODM, or mechanical supplier in China or elsewhere in Asia.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes and experience working directly with part suppliers.
- Experience designing, developing or improving manufacturing jigs, fixtures and production tooling.
- Strong practical experience in brazing, soldering and welding processes, including process development, qualification and manufacturing troubleshooting.
- Experience working in cleanroom environments.
Benefits:
- NVIDIA is widely considered to be one of the technology world's most desirable employers.
- We have some of the most forward-thinking and hardworking people in the world working for us.
- Are you a hands-on engineer who thrives next to the hardware and loves a challenge? Are you ready to become the engineer you always wanted to be? Come and be part of the best mechanical hardware team in the industry!
We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
