Description
Leidos' Defense Systems Colorado Manufacturing is seeking a CNC Machinist to join its team at its Colorado Springs, CO location.
The ideal candidate will need to have experience in programming, setup, and operation of a variety of machine tools including CNC Mills and CNC Lathes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Read engineering drawings
- Operate CNC lathes, providing backup operations on CNC mills and other manual equipment
- Set up and run machines on a wide variety of operations involving multiple machines that convert raw materials to precision finished goods within print tolerance specifications
- Use fixtures or gauges to verify dimensional checks
- Experience in the manufacturing of large aerospace components from exotic materials is a plus, with 5-axis and/or mill-turn experience
- Work on different projects in an ever-changing, rapid-paced environment with little or no assistance
- Perform other duties as required and be available for overtime as necessary
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2-4 years of precision machining experience on CNC Mills and CNC Lathes
- Intermediate knowledge of shop math skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and understand basic work instructions for product fabrication
- General knowledge, skills, and understanding of hand and power tools, including deburring tools, wrenches, etc.
- Proficiency with precision measuring and fixed gauge equipment (micrometers, calipers, electronic height gauges, etc.)
- Lift a minimum of 35+ pounds unassisted
- Ability to work overtime when required
- US citizenship requirement and clearance requirement
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the manufacturing of complex aerospace components from exotic materials
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Basic PC skills for data entry, timecard, and production time entries
