Description
Leidos is seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer to work in its Huntsville office. The role involves developing software for Tactical strike guided munition programs, focusing on creating robust, innovative software frameworks, and supporting software products.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and direction for software development teams, define full-stack software architecture and design patterns, lead technical reviews, and make critical technical decisions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing technical leadership to software development teams of 5-15 engineers
- Defining software architecture and design patterns for missile system applications
- Leading technical reviews, design reviews, and code reviews
- Making critical technical decisions on tools, frameworks, and development approaches
- Serving as the primary technical interface with government customers and program management
- Mentoring and developing junior and mid-level software engineers
- Ensuring software design supports modularity, reusability, portability, and maintainability requirements
- Leading code reviews and ensuring coding standards and best practices are applied
- Directly communicating with customers, end-users, and team members
- Supporting flight test operations and post-test analysis
- Ensuring adherence to military and aviation standards for safety, cybersecurity, and RMF
The ideal candidate will have:
- A bachelor's degree in software engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
- 12+ years of relevant technical experience, or 10+ years with a master's degree in a related field
- Experience leading software development teams on multi-disciplinary projects
- Expert-level experience with C/C++
- Experience with Python or Java
- Familiarity with real-time embedded systems and RTOS environments
- Experience with software configuration management principles and techniques
- Experience with software quality engineering concepts
Preferred qualifications include experience with open systems concepts, architectures, and implementation, knowledge of Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) principles, and experience with embedded missile systems, aerospace, or weapons systems development.
The pay range for this role is $131,300.00 - $237,350.00.
