Description
ACCEL Schools is seeking an experienced and caring School Counselor at Cornerstone Academy in Westerville, Ohio.
The School Counselor will promote student success, provide preventive services, and respond to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic and personal/social development for all students.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing an exemplary, ongoing professional student-counseling program
- Arranging for initial assessments and participating on IEP teams as needed
- Developing and refining the behavior management system and monitoring interventions
- Serving as a liaison with school staff and outside resources
- Maintaining consistency and continuity in the school's response procedures
- Offering resources, professional expertise, and coaching to support student achievement
- Using multiple sources of data collection to analyze barriers to student achievement
- Providing opportunities for the community to be involved in student and school success
- Coordinating, monitoring, and reporting student interventions
- Serving as a resource specialist for teachers and parents
- Working with students, parents, and staff in a compassionate and productive manner
Requirements:
- Graduate degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field
- Valid State of Ohio certification and demonstrated competence as a school-based social services counselor
- Strong social/emotional or trauma-informed care background preferred
- Computer literacy and ability to work well under pressure
- High-quality written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in an urban and/or school turnaround setting is a plus
