Description
As a Driver Development Coach at NEXT's Ockendon Regional Service Centre, you'll play a vital role in ensuring driver safety, confidence, and efficiency on the road.
Working closely with the Transport Management Team, Driver Training Manager, and the Driving Academy, you'll champion road safety, reduce accidents through defensive driving, and promote fuel-efficient driving techniques.
The position is Monday - Friday 06:00-15:00, with flexibility required to support operations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct van and LGV driving assessments for recruitment of core and agency Drivers.
- Plan and deliver engaging induction programmes for new permanent and agency drivers.
- Carry out routine driving assessments, post-accident retraining, and tailored coaching to support continuous driver development.
- Deliver interactive CPC training through classroom and online learning sessions.
- Ensure driver licence checks, training guidelines, and risk assessments align with current workplace legislation and company standards.
- Partner with the Risk and Compliance Officer to review delivery points.
- Keep accurate, compliant training records and documentation up to date.
- Support the wider distribution network by occasionally adjusting working hours or travelling to other Regional Service Centres.
Requirements
- A valid Class 1 (C+E) driving licence and a minimum of 1 year Class 1 driving experience.
- Practical knowledge of tachograph rules and Working Time regulations.
- Experience in coaching and delivering training, particularly Driver CPC modules.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible, adaptable mindset with organisational skills to reprioritise your day quickly.
