Principal Cloud Developer

We are seeking a Principal Cloud Developer to join our HPE Hybrid Cloud team. As a senior individual-contributor technical leader, you will be responsible for end-to-end system and cloud architecture, providing organization-wide technical direction to experts, senior engineers, and engineering teams.

Responsibilities:

• Own and drive end-to-end architecture for complex cloud and infrastructure solutions spanning software, compute, networking, storage, virtualization, security, and management layers.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural direction to experts and engineering teams, driving alignment across products and technology domains.
• Define reference architectures, interfaces, integration patterns, and engineering standards for scalable, secure, reliable, and maintainable systems.
• Lead architecture/design reviews and drive critical decisions involving scalability, performance, availability, security, resiliency, and cost.
• Drive architecture for cloud-native, hybrid-cloud, distributed systems, APIs, Kubernetes, automation, observability, and infrastructure management.
• Identify cross-stack dependencies, failure modes, technology risks, and system bottlenecks and lead resolution of complex customer and production issues.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, drive proof-of-concepts and innovation, and influence multi-year technology and product roadmaps.
• Mentor and develop experts and senior engineers, establish engineering best practices, and raise technical capability across the organization.
• Influence customers, product management, senior technologists, and leadership through clear articulation of architecture options, trade-offs, risks, and business value.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• 12-15 years of experience in product engineering, cloud infrastructure, systems software, platform engineering, or related R&D.
• Proven experience architecting and delivering large-scale, production-grade systems across multiple technology domains.
• Demonstrated technical leadership of senior engineers, experts, architects, or multiple engineering teams.
• Experience driving major capabilities through architecture, development, deployment, lifecycle management, and customer adoption.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Deep expertise in cloud, hybrid cloud, distributed systems, and enterprise infrastructure architecture.
• Strong system-level understanding of servers/compute, networking, storage, virtualization, Linux/Windows, security, HA/DR, and manageability.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes/containers, REST APIs, microservices, databases, messaging, automation, CI/CD, and observability.
• Strong programming and design skills in one or more of Python, Java, Go, C/C++, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Expertise in scalability, performance, resiliency, fault tolerance, security, and system troubleshooting.
• Proven ability to remain technically hands-on through prototyping, architecture/design reviews, code reviews, and complex problem solving.
