Job Purpose
As an Associate Accountant, you will work as a Financial Accountant for multiple Valvoline Global entities. Your responsibilities will include:
- Working knowledge of General Ledger (GL) Accounting and Reconciliation
- Handling month-end journals, accruals, allocations, reporting, and analysis
- Liaising with Financial Controllers, external and internal auditors, and internal stakeholders
- Posting journal entries such as recurring expenses, JEs, prepayments, and accruals
- Performing balance sheet reconciliations on Blackline on a monthly basis
- Having good conceptual knowledge of end-to-end accounting
- Possessing good communication skills with analytical and creative mindset
How You Make an Impact (Job Accountabilities)
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Preparation and posting of accruals, recurring journals related to prepayments, amortization, expenses, and allocations for multiple global entities during month-end close
- Preparing reconciliations (daily/monthly) such as bank/cash rec, sales rec, GL recs, etc.
- Performing review and analysis of both balance sheet and P&L trends during month-end close
- Performing balance sheet reconciliations on Blackline tool on a monthly basis
- Having good conceptual knowledge of GL accounting, month-end closing, and intercompany recharges
- Preparation of financial reports related to monthly/quarterly and annual basis
- Having a good understanding of AP, AR, treasury, and bank open items management would be an added advantage
- Creating and monitoring a system of internal controls, self-checks, and procedures for better compliance
- Updating SOPs/work instructions if there is any change or modification in the procedure
- Preparing schedules during audits and assisting in audit-related queries
What You Bring to the Role (Job Qualifications / Education / Skills / Requirements / Capabilities)
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting/MBA preferred
- 3+ years of F&A working experience in a multinational environment or global shared services center
- Strong finance domain knowledge
- Work experience with SAP/ERP system
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Competencies Desired

- Good level of knowledge related to finance domain

- SAP working knowledge for accounting module, especially in FICO module
- Ability to do proper root cause analysis
- Experience with using the reconciliation tool 'Blackline'
- Good understanding of the use and application of other IT software (Excel, Word)

- Pro-active, strong domain with quick learning abilities, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and team player
- Identifying process improvements and participating in standardization initiatives
- Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
