Description
We are seeking a Principal Security Software Engineer (Storage) to join our team. As a Hybrid role, you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.
As a Principal Security Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and troubleshoot software for HPE Storage products and integrate them with other HPE Cloud Products and Solutions. You will determine hardware compatibility and influence hardware design. Your software expertise will include parts of the Operating System, Kernel Drivers, Microservices, and Applications running in containers orchestrated by Kubernetes.
Your contributions will have a visible technical impact on a product or major subcomponent. You will apply in-depth professional knowledge and innovative ideas to solve complex problems. You will provide technical leadership for significant project/program work and lead or participate in cross-functional initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Develop organization-wide architectures and methodologies for software systems design and development across multiple platforms and organizations.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies, innovations, and outsourced development partner relationships for alignment with technology roadmap and business value.
- Review and evaluate designs and project activities for compliance with development guidelines and standards.
- Leverage recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to influence decisions of executive business leadership, outsourced development partners, and industry standards groups.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.
- Act as a security consultant to engineering teams, reviewing architecture, features, and technical decisions from a security perspective.
- Manage the Vulnerability backlog, response, and remediation plan for the entire product.
Education and Experience Required:
- Master's and PhD degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Specialization or prior experience in Computer or Network Security is highly desirable.
- Typically 15+ years of experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience designing and developing software systems design tools and languages.
- Deep and practical knowledge and experience in building Secure Products in conformance with security protocols, industry standards, and best practices.
- Experience working with 3rd party vendors and security agencies on Security Certifications and Compliance (FIPS, Common Criteria, DISA STIG).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in overall architecture of software systems for products and solutions.
- Designing and integrating software systems running on multiple platform types into overall architecture.
- Evaluating and selecting forms and processes for software systems testing and methodology.
- History of innovation with multiple patents or deployed solutions in the field of software design.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
