Description
As an Occupational Therapist, you will use your OT skills and professional reasoning to support individuals to maximise their independence and achieve their personal outcomes, by completing functional OT assessments.
You will work directly with individuals and their family members, who may be carers, to understand what matters most to them in their daily lives.
You will explore informal networks and community resources using a strengths-based approach that supports meaningful occupation and wellbeing.
This role is at the heart of enabling participation and finding practical solutions that support people to live well in their own homes and communities.
You will carry out holistic Occupational Therapy assessments, identifying their strengths and finding ways to remove barriers to independence, creating opportunities for change.
You will issue specific equipment, undertake moving and handling risk assessments and plans, use your knowledge of recovery, to increase individuals’ confidence and participation.
You will apply Safeguarding principles.
You will manage your own caseload, respond as necessary to urgent situations and work closely with a range of partners recognising when to involve other specialists.
Your documentation will be clear, defensible and rooted in strong professional reasoning.
You will also contribute to the development of Occupational Therapy practice within Adult Social Care, sharing your knowledge and supporting colleagues and students.
