Description
WSP is seeking an Intermediate Level Structural Engineer for their Lake Oswego, Oregon office to join their Pacific Civil/Structural Substation team.
This role involves supporting technical staff, engineers, and project managers in planning, analysis, design, and delivery of structural engineering solutions for electrical substation projects in the public and private sector.
Key responsibilities include:
- Working with engineers, designers, and drafters on electrical substation structural design
- Supporting substation physical design with bus analysis calculations and coordinating with multiple disciplines
- Preparing calculation packages to satisfy client, code, and WSP requirements
- Coordinating with all disciplines contributing to electrical substation design
- Ensuring plans adhere to client and WSP standards
- Reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and providing construction phase support
- Managing budgets and schedules for multiple projects concurrently
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline
- 1 to 3 years of relevant post-education experience
- Knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, and processes
- Familiarity with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management
- Experience with discipline-specific design software (e.g., RISA 3D, RISA Foundation, L-Pile, MathCAD)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred qualifications include Engineer in Training Certification, prior design experience, and participation in local professional practice organizations.
