Description
Lyft's Data Science Team develops mathematical models that power the platform's core services, tackling diverse problems in optimization, prediction, modeling, inference, transportation, and mapping.
We're seeking Masters or PhD students passionate about solving mathematical problems with data and working in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Engineers, Product Managers, and cross-functional partners to frame problems mathematically and in a business context
- Perform exploratory data analysis to understand the problem
- Write production modeling code and implement algorithms with software engineers
- Design and run simulated and live traffic experiments
- Analyze experimental and observational data, communicate findings, and facilitate launch decisions
Experience:
- Pursuing a Masters or PhD degree in mathematical sciences, economics, or a related field, graduating between December 2027 and June 2028
- Available for an internship in New York City during Summer 2027
- Experience coding in Python or SQL, R; familiar with standard data science libraries (NumPy, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras)
- Expertise in optimization and mathematical modeling, machine learning fundamentals, or probabilistic and statistical modeling
